You are favorite manufacturer is back with another exciting car of the year right after the EQS . As The demand for the SUV’s has risen , the company is bringing the Mercedes Benz GLB and Mercedes Benz EQB . So lets dive into it .The GLB interiors and exteriors are similar in the EQB but the former is normal fuel while later is EV
Mercedes Benz GLB
GLB is looks quite muscular and gives a feel of baby SUV but actually it is not. A boxy headlamps with chrome smaller grilles is given . Similar to the some of the older Mercedes cars like the GLA ,GL . Which looks quite appealing with the chrome finish lines integrated with boxy vacant spaces further enhancing the look .
Downwards you get a smaller chrome finish bone shape front fender as seen in GLS . Just below the headlights you get a black faux vent . Even the ground clearance of the GLB is high . because of the 18 inch spoked out Alloys which can be upgraded to 19 inch AMG
Further what makes it bold is its long flat bonnet and roofline . What makes it look like the GLS is , squared wheel arches and the ‘D’ pillar the segmented tail-lights looking familiar .
Mercedes Benz GLB interior : similar to GlA Interior
Yes its true that there are no new interior in terms of looks and features . The GLB interior is similar to the A class sedan . You do get a wooden finish along with the infotainment which enhances the look and increases the appeal .
Wireless charging pad , charging USB ports are provided . Yet Mercedes Benz has maintained its luxury ,in terms of the leather and seating that is decent enough. Additionally , Voice command for the activation of the Sunroof . While we are talking about it, you get the dual pane panoramic sunroof which is again similar to the GLA . And the reason for it being similar in terms of interior and features of A-Class and GLA is because . It is based on the same MFA2 architecture .GLB is slightly longer to the higher-positioned GLC because GLC is coupe and this one’s Little bit boxy from rear with 7 seats of course .
GLB Interior :Leg space and comfort
Leg space and headroom is also good . You get a proper legs space in front and high headroom even for the taller person . Even the 2 row leg space is good .Except that there is a higher floor hump which may make a taller person uncomfortable when 3 people are sitting together .For access of third row you need to lift the liver and then slide it .
Third row ideally is not for taller person or in other words it is for the children or the baby or if your short then .
Of course the tailgate is a smart one or should i say intelligent as it opens up on a single touch Boot space is also decent enough Like many 7-seaters, boot space with all three rows up isn’t a whole lot – just 130 litres in this case, so really, it’s a choice between passengers or luggage. You get a sizeable 500-plus litres with the last row folded .
Engine and power terrain
GLB will not be locally assembled in India and as a result is going to bit expensive and being CBU ,GLB with the same powertrains as the GLA. will be launched , 220d diesel in 2WD and AWD guises, as well a 200 petrol with 2WD, the ‘200’ in this car isn’t the 2.0-litre engine as in the GLC, nor 1.5-litre mild-hybrid as in the C-Class, but instead the 1.3-litre .
Opinion
In my opinion , Mercedes Benz GLB is a great option between GLA and The GLS but some of the things that concerned me is that the rear sits floor hump should be lower , It would have been great if They had introduced a newer interior even though i liked this one , the newer one would have been great and would have given a feel of driving the new car . Engine should have been upgraded .
EQB
There is not major difference In the GLB and the EQB except in terms of design and fuel where you get a completely blacked out grille which is packed like the EQC and you get the diiferent set of high performance led headlights along with a small strip of blue line indicating that this is an Electric car , on the side Fender you get the EQB badging in blue with massive alloys of 18 or 19 inch as an option, and the rear tailights are also similar to the GLB with one connecting led strip which makes it unique and as and addition the boot opens like Eqs . Everything inside is similar .
EQB: Battery /Powertrain
As the name suggests it as an ev and 4 matic which means its an all drive electeric vechile like the newly launched EQS EQC .
The EQB comes with two power outputs – the EQB 300 develops 228hp, whilst the EQB 350 produces a healthier 292hp. Both versions use a 66.5kWh battery and offer the same claimed range of around 400km, but in real-world driving conditions, 300-320km is what you can expect, which isn’t great by modern EV standards.
