Nowadays cruise control have became common in most of the cars whether be it a budget friendly cars or an premium cars , and also in some cars you do also get an adaptive cruise control . And many of the newly learnt drivers are excited to use the same , but should they really use it ?

Although cruise control is not so hard to use and also quite good feature especially during a long stretchy roads like bigger highways , express ways and going from one state to other but it also involves quite risk . The risk involved in using the same can include distracted driving , hazardous conditions , traffic , slower reactions and much more . These risks are further explained further .

Not knowing how to set and making it risky in middle of the road – The first and foremost important thing to use cruise control is that you must know how to set it and if suppose you are not aware about it and if you want to use it in the middle of the road , you may start looking for the button or start searching here and there which looses the focus on the road and unfortunately if any mishap Happened then ?

Distracted driving – Technology has become more advanced not only in electronics but also in cars and as a result we have became lot of dependent on the same ,and which is not a good thing for the car especially when you are using the cruise control , because as we get dependent on the same , we may try to mess with the radio , infotainment , or an ac or other stuff , further more , Many cars now come with adaptive cruise control , that means it automatically adjusts your car’s speed to maintain a certain following distance and it can be dangerous to rely on this feature when driving in congested traffic and if unfortunately you need to press an emergency brake it may be risky , if you are pro you would be able to mange it , but if you are newly learned , you may get cautious .

Bad road conditions – Here you may not be at the fault but still you need to be very cautios as if your travelling at a good road for certain time and let us assume you know how to use the same and added the cruise but if certainly any winding roads or rolling hills come in , using cruise control can actually increase your odds of getting into an accident and even waste your fuel consumption. And if you travel up and down hills, your cruise control maintains the same speed by accelerating on the inclines and braking on the decline , thereby also increasing the fuel consumption .
