Volkswagen has launched the most hyped and premium sedan in India ie -The Volkswagen Virtus and we got a chance to review the same , the car which we have reviewed is the GT plus variant which is a slightly cheaper compared to the Skoda Slavia ‘s top model .
The exterior profile is sporty with the sporty Front fender which is kind of similar to the discontinued Vento , with GT branding talking about the headlamps you get the led headlamps which as per the executive is a sequencal headlights with the led Drl’s , downwards you get the blacked out bumpers giving the front facia a sporty look with the led Fog lamps which are cornering fog lamps , moving towards the side you get the GT badging just how in Slavia you get the Skoda badging which looks beautiful . For the roads you get the 16 inch blacked out tubeless alloys with red brake capillaries .In the front you get the Disc brake with Mc-Pherson suspension and stabiliser bar and on the rear you get Drum brakes with twist beam axle .
Virtus is slightly bigger compared to the Skoda Slavia where Slavia is 4541 mm and Virtus is 4561, other measurements are similar to the Skoda’s Slavia , you get the partially blacked out tail-lights which is edgy different to the Slavia , also you get a rear spoiler in the GT plus variant with the reverse camera . And for opening boot a simple handle is given unlike by pressing the Volkswagen logo downwards you get the hard plastic bumpers with the chrome finish giving an attractive look .
The interior is also quite amazing and gives a feel good factor which is similar to Volkswagen Tiguan , everything you touch is made of high-quality materials , unlike the Slavia you get the 3 spoke sporty steering wheel with steering mount control ,Those of you familiar with the Slavia will also pick up other differences, again down to how Skoda and VW do things differently. Although both the companies share similar platform but there are little differences of both like Virtus sits on the center console, ahead of the gear lever, while Skoda places it on the steering column. Then, while the Skoda has its lock and unlock button on the central console, VW has it on the door, right next to the door handle. And there are other differences too. Also you get a familiar looking 10 inch infotainment screen which gets wireless android auto and apple carplay support with the lot of connected tech. Also you get a Volkswagen’s climatetronic auto ac with wireless charging pad and also ventilated seats for driver and co passenger side . with 2 usb ports , in total you get 4 usb ports , 2 in front and 2 in rear , also you get the rear ac vents but unfortunately no auto ac . Also how can we miss out the sunroof , yes you do get one but the sunshade is manual .
The seating on front is quite comfortable and spacious with a wide height , you can however adjust the height and space of the seats but you need to do it manually . Even the rear seats or the second row where mostly people will sit is also good but if a person sitting in a middle need to sit quite tight as shown in the review video .
Volkswagen Virtus is offered in 6 variants as Comfortline (only manual ), GT plus , Highline and Topline powered by the 3 cylinder , 1.0 L TSI matted with the 6 speed Manual Transmission and Auto transmission in Comfortline , Highline and Topline while the GT plus is only available in 1.5 L TSI evo matted with 7 speed DSG auto.
Volkswagen Virtus is directly competing with the Skoda Slavia . In terms of the pricing the Gt Plus is cheaper than Slavia’s top model .
also it will compete with the Honda city . which is another premium segment car from Honda in terms of features and space
