Jeep meridian :Overview

Jeep has once again taken the Indian automotive market by storm with the launch of its latest offering, the Jeep Meridian. Positioned as the manufacturer’s third product in India, it joins the ranks alongside the Cherokee, making it the fourth if we consider the imported Cherokee. What sets the Meridian apart is its distinction as the first 7-seater car in India, boasting a list of features dissimilar of the popular Compass model, with a few noteworthy additions. In this blog post, we will delve into the Jeep Meridian interior and more.

Jeep Meridian Interior : Comfort and more

Stepping inside the Jeep meridian interior we get a luxurious and premium interior, akin to the 2021 update of the Jeep Compass. Differentiating itself, the Meridian boasts a dual-tone dashboard in brown and black, a departure from the all-black interior of the Compass. The soft-touch leather dash, adorned with chrome finishes, adds a touch of opulence. The leather steering wheel, equipped with steering-mounted controls and music controls behind it, enhances the driving experience. The interior space is thoughtfully designed, combining functionality with a sense of sophistication. The attention to detail, from the dash surround to the gear module, reflects Jeep’s commitment to a premium driving experience.

The Jeep Meridian takes the driving experience to a new level with a host of cutting-edge features that prioritize both convenience and entertainment. The inclusion of an idle start-stop engine feature not only contributes to fuel efficiency but also aligns with modern environmental consciousness.

The interior of the Meridian is a tech enthusiast’s dream. The 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster offers multiple displays, providing essential information in a visually engaging manner. The centerpiece is a 10.1-inch infotainment system that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ensuring seamless connectivity for a smarter driving experience.

The dual-zone auto climate AC and ventilated seats, controllable through the central screen, further enhance the driving experience. The presence of driving modes caters to varying road conditions, while the absence of adaptive cruise control in the auto variant is a minor drawback

Spacious and Comfortable Seating

The comfort factor extends to the seating arrangements in the Jeep Meridian. The front driver and co-passenger seats offer a comfortable ride, with the elevated seating position improving under-thigh support. The middle row, although non-adjustable, provides ample roominess and headroom.

However, accessing the third row is a breeze with a one-touch lever that flips and tumbles the rear seats. Yet, the third-row seating space is less generous, making it more suitable for smaller passengers than adults. Autocar India’s report suggests that the Meridian shines as a 5-seater, allowing the folding of the third-row seats to create a spacious 481-liter luggage area.

Exterior

The front facade of the Jeep Meridian is both striking and familiar, drawing parallels with the design of the Jeep Compass. However, notable enhancements include a stylish set of grilles with chrome finishing and a seamlessly integrated front camera, a feature increasingly common in new vehicles. The LED projector headlamps with LED DRLs provide optimal visibility and come as standard across all variants. Moving downwards, the ice cube-shaped LED fog lamps and Chromic skid plate add a touch of sophistication to the bold front profile. The 18-inch Diamond-cut alloys with chrome-finished brake capillaries complement the McPherson strut suspension in the front and Multilink with strut suspension in the rear, enhancing both aesthetics and performance.

The side profile of the Jeep Meridian is adorned with black electrically adjustable ORVMs, Meridian badging on the doors, and 18-inch Diamond-cut alloys, contributing to its overall appeal. The dual-tone color scheme, along with chrome-finished windows and the integration of the taillights with the chrome bar, creates a seamless and attractive transition.

The rear profile, though slightly boxy, exudes charm with its D-pillar in black and chrome-finished windows. The ice-shaped LED taillights, adorned with the Jeep logo, add a distinctive touch. The smart tailgate, despite a low placement of the boot handle, promises convenience. The rear bumper, with its chrome finish, reflector, and parking sensors, completes the SUV’s rear aesthetics.

Powertrain

Powering the Jeep Meridian is the familiar 2.0-liter diesel engine generating 170hp. The engine is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission or a 9-speed automatic transmission, with the top-of-the-line Limited 4×4 exclusively featuring the latter.

Jeep engineers have tweaked the engine calibration to deliver a more linear power delivery, resulting in a smoother driving experience. The adjustments extend to the fuel-injection timing, minimizing noise levels and enhancing overall refinement.
