Road and passenger Safety is one of the crucial aspects in the transportation , considering the same , government has introduced new plans for the passenger vehicles especially M1 category. The first draft notification came out in January 14, 2022 . In this draft , it stated that the SUV cars especially 8 seater , produced after 1 October 2022, will be require mandatory airbags .
As per the latest news , The Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari , tweeted that all the manufacturers should at least bring minimum of 6 airbags as compulsion for cars carrying 8 passengers . And in July 2019 driver airbag had become a mandatory thing while dual airbags became a compulsion this January even in the basic cars ,As per the proposal, airbags will be made mandatory for two side or side torso airbags, and two side curtain or tube airbags, covering all outboard passengers thereby minimizing the impact of “frontal and lateral collisions” to the occupants seated in both the front and rear compartments , which I feel is a great thing ..
As per the Indian express report , there are different rules of airbags in the world , and airbags has became essential . From 1987 to 2017 the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) estimated that just frontal airbags saved 50,457 lives in that country , and by seeing this number , you can imagine , if it weren’t there , what would have happened , even more people had lost their life .Airbags are essential because its soften the impact of collisions by keeping occupants from coming into contact with the steering wheel, dashboard, front glass, and other parts of the automobile.
