Oems in India are giving a tough competition but it was not the case in initial stage .The automotive industry is one of the fastest-growing industries in India, especially after the wake of covid 19. During this era, many brands have introduced variety in their products, and Indian homegrown car manufacturers have also done well.
And very stunning and technologically-loaded products are coming in front, from our Indian car brands which, makes me very proud. And today, in this article, we will be especially talking about how our Indian car brands are making a comeback and leaping a way ahead in the auto industry.

Oems in India : past

Two prominent Indian auto players are Mahindra and Tata. Both companies is well known before the 2000s. During that era, the Car was a luxury asset. Mahindra used to sell the cars like Armada, Armada Maxx, and Thar, in the village areas, these were very famous, while Tata used to produce trucks and had collaborated once with Mercedes Benz.

Tata Indica – It was the first modern car introduced ever, designed by the Indian car company. Initially introduced with the caption “More car per car,” the ad campaign focused on roomy interiors and affordability. Mahindra used to be the assembly company and wanted to enter the SUV segment with a new product that could compete globally, M&M did not have the technical know-how to handle such an ambitious product, so they devised an entirely new concept among Indian auto companies. So from over here the car journey had started for both the companies.
Though the demand for the SUV has started increasing now, tata introduced SUVs and other unique products a long way before, even before it was a trend.
Also, Scorpio had started the SUV trend in the Indian Market.

Oems in India : present

In present times, both companies started to get tough competition from their counter companies as in India, other brands entered.
These companies started offering better technology, features, and more thus, offering much more variety.

During the covid, many people started purchasing cars for their daily commute. Then the game for Indian Car Companies changed and they made a come back . Tata showcased a concept – H5X, which get, an amazing response from people. No one could believe it was Tata’s concept and was launched on 23 January 2019. And Harrier became the game changer for Tata, as it was built on the same platform as a land rover, jaguar ie the Omega platform. Also, Harrier gave tough competition to its competitors.

Based on the same design, a bigger suv for introduced as a concept called the Gravitas, which later was changed to the Safari. As Safari Storme was the most popular SUV from Tata, especially after it was used in the ” Singham Returns “

Mahindra Rebirth

At the same time, Mahindra was too ready to launch a new product, design language, and the new Logo. In August 2019, Mahindra launched the XUV 700 with a new logo and the first Indian car to get ADAS. Though Tata Safri and Mahindra XUV 700 have direct competition with each other, they are after all Indian car Companies. Even the Tata safari and Harrier now get ADAS features. But Tata only offers a Diesel engine, no petrol engine is on offer but in the case of Mahindra, you get both Engine options. Also Mahindra has introduced its popular suv or the trend setting cars new generation -Scorpio N that looks more premium .
