For most of you , this name might be new and frankly speaking i have also heard this name for the first time . So before going further into the article , let us first understand or know the profile of Gordan Murray , By seeing the name you may think he is someone related to Gordon Ramsey , but no they both are different identities . Well Gordon Ramsey is a well known chef while , Mr Gordon Murray is a F1 and McLaren car designer who was born in Durban and then moved to England in 1969, hoping to find a job at lotus cars which is an another sports car brand .But god always has a different plans and so was the case with Mr Gordon Murray and got the first job at Brabham which is actually a common racing teams name . And his career began to grow with the beginning of grand prix cars .
During the 1986 season, Murray designed the radical and highly ambitious lowline Brabham BT55 which increased the downforce without adding excessive drag by lowering overall ride height. but the car was not able to perform well and proved disastrous for Brabham, with the team’s 1985 car, the Brabham BT54 was invented in British Grand Prix in a desperate effort to get results. Despite the BT55’s problems and lack of results Murray remained convinced that his design was correct. During 1986 it was discovered the car’s main problem was actually the BMW engine which in the lowline design had to be turned to an angle of 18° from horizontal. Murray played a part in the design team, headed by Steve Nichols, which produced not only 1987’s McLaren MP4/3 which had won 3 races and had been much more streamlined than the previous McLaren MP4/2 series designed by Barnard.
in the year 2007 the Gordon Murray Design consultancy was established, which released initial details regarding its upcoming prototype along with mention of a future lightweight, economical supercar project. The rocket , an ultra-lightweight, open cockpit roadster powered by a 1-litre motorcycle engine was an independent build car by Murray , In September 2016 it was announced that Murray had been appointed to develop the Ox, a flat pack low-cost vehicle, for the British charity Global Vehicle.
Talking about the exterior design , the front headlamps look like the typical Porsche design, T33 is built on an all-new carbon-aluminum monocoque chassis, which is slightly longer compared to the T50 . On the interiors we get the two seats for occupants. The car is power by specially adapted version of GMA’s Cosworth-designed 3.9-litre V12 engine. One problem that we find a low-speed torque but a slightly lower rev limit of 11,100rpm, compared with 12,000rpm in the T50. We do get a10-inch screen and 200 kg in weight which is a lighter compared to T50 . As per the Autocar India’s report , Murray had reserved the T33 cause he said, we haven’t had the facilities to make it, along with the 3.3-litre engine for it.
