Well BMW has always been one of the favorite premium car brands not only in India but everywhere.BMW has already launched cars in all the types of segments be it a hatchback or an SUV, And even has a sports series The M series, that we already know, but today I am gonna talk about something that many of us Don’t know, BMW ALPINA, so let us begin:

BMW ALPINA is a division by BMW that manufacturers, develops, and sells high-performance versions of BMW and MINI. ALPINA was started by Burkard Bovensiepen who decide not to enter the family business of typewriters. And so he initially developed the dual carburetor for the new class of sedans The BMW 1500 not only enhanced the performance by 15 percent but also received the automotive press, as well as BMW’s own sales boss Paul G. Hahnemann. Seeing the increase in performance of the BMW engines, BMW officially started certifying the quality of ALPINA products which was later installed on BMW vehicles.

ALPINA Burkard Bovensiepen KG was established on 1 January 1965 with eight employees in early years ALPINA established its core competency by tuning carburetors and crankshafts to extract more power from BMW engines .. ALPINA was not known to the public until its involvement in racing as per .roadandtrack.com, it was because of the  European Touring Car Championship, people started giving attention to the ALPINA passenger cars. Because of the powerful engines, ALPINA won the championship in the year 1970 which became a highlight at that time .and also won the Hill climb Championship, rally and track racing championships, and the prestigious Spa 24 Hours.

In the case of ALPINA, these cars are literally hand-made, it buys the complete cars from BMW and then changes original parts to ALPINA, tuning the engine and more .sometimes BMW brings it back to the ALPINA for upgrading the interior, systems, and even more. The distinguishing feature includes mount shifting buttons on the steering wheel the 20-spoke alloy wheels with hidden valves under the center cap and the “ALPINA Blue or -Green” metallic exterior color.

In 1983 ALPINA was recognized by the German Federal Ministry of Transport as an automobile manufacturer Since then, its expertise has been sought by the likes of Volkswagen czar Ferdinand Piech—and denied. Even Jaguar took interest in purchasing ALPINA, under the watch of Premier Automotive Group. Getting so much attention, ALPINA decided to exit the racing and fully concentrate on the production of cars.
