India made S Class

Mercedes Benz S class is been in India for a very long time and is mostly used by the business and the elite class people. If you consider its segment then it is a bigger sedan almost the size of a limousine which comes with almost everything be it ventilated seats, ambient lighting, or a fridge. Since the car was selected by few people, Mercedes-Benz used to sell the CBU unit in India. but after the launch of the new S Class, the demand increased. and as a result, Mercedes Benz decided to take a step ahead and launched India assembled S class. Although the new S Class is also sold, there is a price difference between both. The CBU unit is priced at Rs 2.17 crore for the S 400d and Rs 2.19 crore for the S 450. and the new price for S 350d is RS 1.57 crore while S 450 is priced at Rs of 1.62 crores. So, the reduced prices of diesel and petrol variants are now Rs 60 and 55 lakh cheaper respectively.

Minor differences –

There are no major differences in the locally assembled S class except the front and rear bumpers and the new designer 19-inch alloy wheels. on the interiors, we get the same 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and 12.8-inch portrait-oriented OLED touchscreen, with the latest MBUX software featuring facial, voice, and facial recognition, along with the beautiful setup of 64 color ambient lighting. And for the customer convenience electronically adjustable front and rear seats with massage functions, and rear front airbags. Now instead of a 4D Burmester surround speaker, we get a 3D Burmester surround speaker.

Engine and power –

New S 350d is powered by  OM656, an in-line 6-cylinder, diesel engine. This engine generates 286hp and 600Nm of torque. While the petrol engine remains unchanged that is derived from the imported  S 450 ie 6-cylinder, the turbocharged unit which generates 367hp and 500Nm. of torque. also, we get the 9-speed automatic gearbox along with 4 Matic all-wheel drive in both engines.

Competion from other cars –

The newly assembled S class will face competition from other cars in a limousine range ie BMW 7 series and AUDI A8.
