New orders from Mumbai police chief to traffic department

Nowadays it has been seen that many traffic officials check the documents of vehicles in the middle of the road which results in huge traffic, as a result, Mumbai Commissioner issued a strict order to the traffic police department that they should prioritize monitoring traffic movement and only stop vehicles in case of traffic violations ., also a senior police officer further said: “We have seen various officers stop the vehicles and do the checks which are not necessary “.

As per the new orders, traffic police are only entitled to charge motorists, if they violate any of the traffic rules and regulations. Apart from this if they have any suspicion, the examination of vehicles or documents is not under the purview of traffic police.

The new order also states if there is a joint nakabandi with RTO officials or local police, traffic cops should stick to actions specified under rules. The cops should not do any other checks., if the orders are not followed then the traffic division in charge will be held responsible for the same.
